An alert active bird with firm build and large strong wings.
The face has a thick beard, ear muffling and a neat compact crest,
red triple pea comb, no wattles and minimal ear lobes.
The beak is strong and horn coloured. The eyes are a vivid bright orange.
The legs are clear of feathers and coloured slate.
It is the only pure breed that lays blue and blue/ green eggs with the blue
pigmentation permeating through the shell. It is a prolific layer
