The breed was the mainstay of the egg and
meat production industry in England
prior to the introduction of
battery farms
A bird of compact build, good width, flat long back and broad
bodied.
The head is medium sized. The comb red, single, straight and erect
Wattles and ear lobes full and medium in size. The beak
is strong and horn coloured
